The Small Mobile Laser Cutter can blast through all types of drillable rock with its mining laser, which can be used by double-selecting the vehicle. It has a
WallDestroyTime
of
6
for Dirt,
14
for Loose Rock, and
200
for Hard Rock, and every two laser blasts drains one Energy Crystal. Its extremely slow mining time combined with how much power it uses and the general lack of Recharge Seams in the game makes it utterly useless for drilling. It moves at a slow 0.5 blocks per second, and is possibly the least useful vehicle in the game, as even an untrained Rock Raider can outpace it while burning through nothing but sandwiches. It's not even good for defense, as it only has a range of 1.25 blocks, and only does about -4 HP damage to units per shot.

Rather than Energy Crystals, the Small Mobile Laser Cutter is powered by Laser Beam PowerCells that can be picked up in levels. Each PowerCell collected can be used to fire the laser five times (ten if playing as Sparks). A single blast is all that's needed to destroy any rock type in the PlayStation game, making the Small Mobile Laser Cutter essentially the same as a Rock Raider with a Laser Beam, a Large Mobile Laser Cutter, or a Chrome Crusher without a drill.

The Small Mobile Laser Cutter is a vehicle from the LEGO Rock Raiders theme. It is a six-wheeled motor vehicle equipped with a small laser for blasting through weak rock, a single seat for a driver, and two spotlights. It was not released in any LEGO sets. Small Mobile Laser Cutters can be used in the video game LEGO Rock Raiders, and do not appear in any other published media.

In LEGO Rock Raiders for Windows

A Rock Raider driving a Small Mobile Laser Cutter

In the Windows version of LEGO Rock Raiders, the Small Mobile Laser Cutter is classified as a small vehicle, and requires three energy crystals for power. A Rock Raider must be trained as a driver to use a Small Mobile Laser Cutter.

The Small Mobile Laser Cutter can blast through all types of rock with its mining laser, which can be used by double-selecting the vehicle. It has a WallDestroyTime of 6 for dirt, 14 for loose rock, and 200 for hard rock, and every two laser blasts drains one energy crystal. Its extremely slow mining time combined with how much power it uses and the general lack of recharge seams in the game makes it utterly useless for drilling. It moves at a slow 0.5 blocks per second, and is possibly the least useful vehicle in the game, as even an untrained Rock Raider can outpace it in both movement and mining without burning through any energy crystals. Furthermore, it has a firing range of only 1.25 blocks, and only deals about 4 health points of damage to objects per shot, making it useless even for defensive purposes.

Dependency

Its short range makes it poor for defense

The Small Mobile Laser Cutter costs three energy crystals and requires the following for teleportation:

Upon telelporting down a Small Mobile Laser Cutter for the first time, the help window will display this message:

You now have a Small Mobile Laser Cutter. You can use its laser to cut through walls with ease.

Upgrades

There is one upgrade available for the Small Mobile Laser Cutter:

 • Drill: Costs fifteen pieces of ore. This upgrade supposedly upgrades the laser in some way, but in its AE file no change occurs. The same laser is mounted; ergo, the end result is a waste of ore.

In LEGO Rock Raiders for PlayStation

The PlayStation version of the Small Mobile Laser Cutter
In the PlayStation version, it can destroy a wall in one shot

The Small Mobile Laser Cutter appears occasionally in the PlayStation version of LEGO Rock Raiders, where it is significantly better at mining than in the Windows version. In the North American version, it always needs to be teleported; in the European version, it can just as often be found somewhere in the mission. When it needs to be constructed, it can cost either four, six, or eight pieces of ore. This vehicle is usually considered necessary to complete a mission, and its destruction causes an instant mission incomplete message.

Rather than draining energy crystals, the Small Mobile Laser Cutter is powered by laser beam PowerCells that can be picked up in missions. Each PowerCell collected can be used to fire the laser five times (ten if playing as Sparks). A single blast is all that is needed to destroy any rock type, making the Small Mobile Laser Cutter equally as effective at mining as a Rock Raider with a laser beam, a Large Mobile Laser Cutter, or a Chrome Crusher without a drill.
