To do: Bug or Glitch?

For both the PC Game and the PS1 Games, there are a number of Bugs and Glitches with various aspects of the game.

PC Game

Erosions on Icy Caverns Bug

No texture was included for Eroding Lava in Icy Caverns, appearing as normal ground until it was full blown Lava. The only icy level with eroding lava is Air Raiders.

First Person Fog Glitch

When viewing in Eye View or Shoulder View mode, going to the pause menu can sometimes cause the player's entire vision to become fog, and not clearing until returning to top view. Being near a wall may do the same.

Infinite Laser Drain Glitch

In some installations of the WAD files, using a Laser Beam will completely deplete your crystal supply, causing you to have to use a recharge seam. Whether it happens on the WADs or not is completely random, and the origin is unknown.

Monsters Attacking Loader-Dozers Glitch

Loader Dozers can be caught stuck in shoveling animation when they are attacked mid-animation by Monsters, ultimately spelling doom for the Loader Dozer if the monster continues attacking without any Rock Raiders defending it.

Power Surge Glitch

See Main Article: Power Surge

Power Surge is a rather conditional Threat to Rock Raiders HQ in the PC Game. It is fairly simple to avoid, if the player takes the right precautions while building up their HQ. It is not known whether this was made to be an intentional threat, or if it was a glitch in the game.

Surges are only really a threat when building very large Rock Raider HQ's. It occurs when too many powered Power Paths and Buildings are placed. It can render some buildings useless, unpowerable, and unusable. In order to fix the problem, the player has to teleport the malfunctioning buildings back to the LMS Explorer and build a replacement at a separate location. If you try to rebuild on the same squares, the new buildings will have the same problem. This is especially a dangerous and annoying threat when there is a depleting Oxygen Supply and a Power Surge renders your Support Station useless, and the oxygen level begins to drop rapidly. Surges can strike without warning.

Power Surges can be easily be avoided simply by being as space and energy efficient as possible when building up Rock Raider HQ, building as little Power Paths as possible.

It is not known whether these were intended, or whether they are just a bug, which is more likely given it's unpredictable nature. They cause a corruption in the power systems to turn off buildings in certain areas permanently when too many Power Paths and Buildings are placed.

Rock Raider Retirement Bug

Late in the game, a common problem that a player will experience is that Rock Raiders that have been trained, upgraded, and named, which should appear upon starting a new level when they are teleported down, are instead replaced with unupgraded, untrained, unnamed recruits. This is because there are a maximum number of unique Rock Raiders stored in the game which can be kept in the game save's memory between levels. If more than this maximum number of Rock Raiders is teleported, the old cadets will be replaced by the new recruits. It is not known whether this was implemented on purpose (to keep the game challenging and/or stably functioning), or is just a bug.

Vehicles Driving Up Walls Bug

Sometimes drilling Vehicles, particularly the Chrome Crusher encounter a bug where they need to readjust their position. Sometimes in doing so they will drive up the side of the wall they are facing and then back down.
