A Map of Planet U's Star System as portrayed in the Intro Sequence (Planet U is in the upper left)

Planet U's star system, while never explicitly named, is located in a galaxy neighboring the Milky Way. The system consists of six planets.

Star

The host star is reddish in color, either indicating that it is a red dwarf or red giant star. Evidence suggested in the comics and the games indicate that system may have once possessed an ancient intelligent civilization which has since passed on or moved away. This suggests that the system is rather old, indicating that the star is probably a Red Giant, near the end of its stellar cycle. Looking at the intro sequence, it also appears that it may be near a large pinkish nebula.

Not much is known about the other five planets of the star system, however various renditions and names have been made in fan fiction. The LMS Explorer exited the wormhole in the outer rim of the solar system not too far from Planet U. As can be seen from the map in the intro sequence, the planets travel on extremely eccentric and inclined orbits. The first planet of the system (which appears to be very small), indicated in blue on the map, orbits extremely close to its parent star. The second planet (indicated in green) orbits at roughly twice this distance. The third planet (indicated in red) orbits slightly farther out than the second planet at roughly a 90 degree inclination. The fourth planet (indicated in orange), appears to be Planet U with the LMS Explorer nearby in orbit. The fifth and sixth planets are indicated in blue and pink.
