The Rock Raiders fleet includes a wide variety of vehicles for mining and exploration purposes. These vehicles
serve many purposes in the PC Game and the Playstation Games, from transportation to mining.
There are many different Rock Raider Vehicles. They can be teleported from the LMS Explorer to Rock Raider HQ when the Support Station is built via the Teleport Pad or Super Teleport Buildings. Vehicles are used to preform various functions, mainly drilling walls faster and for material transport on large Levels. They can also be used to transport Rock Raiders and (in some cases) other vehicles. Most of these vehicles are based on counterpart Lego Sets.
Major vehicles
The PlayStation version makes no such distinction; however, the substantial size difference between the two classes still makes them easy to distinguish.
Small vehicles
Small Vehicles are typically teleported down using the Teleport Pad and don't cost many Energy Crystals. Most of these are frequently used throughout gameplay, particularly during the earlier Levels. Because of their lower cost they can be used in great abundance, and perform the same types of tasks as Rock Raiders but much faster and more efficiently. They typically are more mobile than the larger vehicles though less efficient in handling their various tasks.
The small vehicles include:
- The Hover Scout
- The Small Digger
- The Small Transport Truck (PC only)
- The Rapid Rider (requires Docks)
- The Small Mobile Laser Cutter (not in sets)
- The Tunnel Scout (not in sets)
Large vehicles
Large Vehicles are typically teleported down using the Super Teleport and cost more than Small Vehicles. They can perform most of the same tasks as the smaller vehicles but with greater speed and efficiency (though usually with some drawbacks). These are mostly used during later Levels where Energy Crystals are more abundant.
The large vehicles include:
- The Loader Dozer
- The Granite Grinder (PC only)
- The Large Mobile Laser Cutter (not in sets)
- The Chrome Crusher
- The Cargo Carrier (Requires Docks, PC only, not in sets)
- The Tunnel Transport (PlayStation only)
Other vehicles
There is also a Floating Platform that has appeared in the Playstation Game, which was not classified as large or small.
Floating Platform
The Floating Platform is an automated navigation tool used to cross large expanses of Water and Lava. It is rather useful if Rock Raiders do not have access to a Tunnel Scout or Tunnel Transport (which, at the point the platform is used, they will never have, due to the setup of the game).
The Floating Platform only makes an appearance in the NTSC version of the Rock Raiders Playstation Game. It does not feature in the PAL version or the PC Game.
Hoverboard
Not to be confused with the Hover Scout.
The Hoverboard is a small floating vehicle that can travel over land and water at low altitudes. It can hold two people at a time, though only one can sit. The hoverboard attatched to the back of the Tunnel Transport.
While the Hoverboard does not actually appear in the games, it makes several appearances in the books.
