It is fairly simple to avoid, if the player takes the right precautions while building up their HQ. It is not known whether this was made to be an intentional threat, or if it was a glitch in the game.

Threat
Surges are only really a threat when building very large Rock Raider HQ's. It occurs when too many powered Power Paths and Buildings are placed. It can render some buildings useless, unpowerable, and unusable. In order to fix the problem, the player has to teleport the malfunctioning buildings back to the LMS Explorer and build a replacement at a separate location. If you try to rebuild on the same squares, the new buildings will have the same problem. This is especially a dangerous and annoying threat when there is a depleting Oxygen Supply and a Power Surge renders your Support Station useless, and the oxygen level begins to drop rapidly. Surges can strike without warning.

Prevention
Power Surges can be easily be avoided simply by being as space and energy efficient as possible when building up Rock Raider HQ, building as little Power Paths as possible.-->

Erosions on Icy Caverns Bug
No texture was included for Eroding Lava in Icy Caverns, appearing as normal ground until it was full blown Lava.  The only icy level with eroding lava is Air Raiders. <!--- This has been fixed in various Mods including Baz's Mod.--->

It is not known whether these were intended, or whether they are just a bug, which is more likely given it's unpredictable nature.  They cause a corruption in the power systems to turn off buildings in certain areas permanently when too many Power Paths and Buildings are placed.

Rock Raider Retirement Bug
Late in the game, a common problem that a player will experience is that Rock Raiders that have been trained, upgraded, and named, which should appear upon starting a new level when they are teleported down, are instead replaced with unupgraded, untrained, unnamed recruits.  This is because there are a maximum number of unique Rock Raiders stored in the game which can be kept in the game save's memory between levels.  If more than this maximum number of Rock Raiders is teleported, the old cadets will be replaced by the new recruits.  It is not known whether this was implemented on purpose (to keep the game challenging and/or stably functioning), or is just a bug.

Vehicles Driving Up Walls Bug
Sometimes drilling Vehicles, particularly the Chrome Crusher encounter a bug where they need to readjust their position.  Sometimes in doing so they will drive up the side of the wall they are facing and then back down.

Music Track Glitch
Sometimes, when the music ends, another track plays for a few seconds before going back to the correct track. (This usually happens only on emulators.)
